Monday Music: Subterranean Homesick Blues

A truly seminal contribution from a young Bob Dylan, this bit was featured in the D.A. Pennebaker  documentary, Dont Look Back, which followed Dylan's 1965 tour in England in which he seemed to captivate the whole country. You can see poet Allen Ginsberg conversing in the background looking somewhat rabbinical with that sweater across his shoulders and staff in hand. You also see Dylan's quirky humor in some of his spelling ("Pawking metaws" and "suckcess" spelled the way he pronounces them in the song). His creativity here predated music videos on MTV by about 15 years.
