Saturday Haiku: Mountain River

when snows have melted
sparkling river waters flow
through greening meadows

Artist; Tony Bennett (Antony Benedetto)*

*Last August, the legendary Tony Bennett announced his retirement from performing at the age of 95. His career has spanned eight decades. Famous for his singing career, he has also had a passion for painting. Today's post is part of a series of haiku inspired by Mr. Bennett's artwork (when he paints, he uses his given name, Antony Benedetto).

Saturday Haiku: River Sunset

On this holiday weekend, here is a favorite from my archives...

sometimes a river
encompasses all the world
as the sun goes down

Saturday Haiku: Sunset Calm

My high school algebra teacher used to say, "Show me your work." So today I decided to show you my work as I tried to come up with this week's haiku:

Li River resting
in Guilin’s ancient valley
with a sunset calm

with a sunset calm
the river valley resting
from the summer heat

sunset calm
river valley rests
summer settles

summer settles
as the river rests
in sunset calm

over the river at night
a light brings comfort

Saturday Haiku: The River

in the ancient river banks
