During National Poetry Month, I am using my Monday Music feature to present songs that were first poems and later set to music. "The Highwayman" was written by Alfred Noyes and published in 1906 in Blackwood's Magazine (Edinburg, Scotland). Phil Ochs's song is an interpretation of the Noyes poem and it was recorded on the 1965 album, "I Ain't Marching Anymore."
